The Retail Q1 snapshot highlights the key figures and insight for the Italian market

As the structural change in retail market accelerates, greater emphasis will be placed on the shift toward a flexible omni-channel retail model and sustainable fulfilment; strengthened partnerships between landlords and retailers will need to emerge to achieve this. In Italy, the lockdown brought to a strong increase of primary goods purchase. The online channel has grown substantially in the last eight weeks of coronavirus emergency (compared to the same period of the previous year), as well as home delivery and Click & Collect.
The retail sector was the main catalysator of interest in Q1 2020, recording more than half to total volumes with around €840m, a figure more than tripled compared to the previous quarter, mainly thanks to the out of town segment.
